Our Team. Dedicated to Conservation
Emma has worked with Red Pandas for over 5 years, spending extended periods of time in Nepal performing important ecological research. She has been passionate about Red Pandas since she was 4 years old and since graduating from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Ecology and Conservation her life long dream of conserving and resaerching Red Pandas in becoming a reality. After travelling to Nepal by herself for 4 months when she was 17, her passion was fueled by the grim situation the Red Pandas appear to be in throughout their range. Since then Emma has and continues to work tirelessly for the Red Pandas. Emma is currently an Honours Student at Griffith University (Brisbane, Queensland).
As a student of forestry from Nepal Chiran provides our first connection to Nepal's Red Panda population. Chiran is a great asset to our team and is highly accomplished, recently receiving the highly acclaimed Jillian Bowlling Memorial scholarship – 2013 by WWF Nepal for his present and future commitment in Nature conservation. Chiran has extensive in-field experience and has worked with a variety of national organisations to conserve and protect threatened species such as Gharial Crocodiles, Bengal Tigers and Vultures.
Amy has been a volunteer in Sydney’s Taronga Zoo’s Youth At The Zoo program for 5 years, and is currently also a volunteer at Taronga Zoo, Macarthur Vet Group and Symbio Wildlife Park, where she works directly with Red Pandas and educates visitors about their critical state. In 2013 Amy visited Nepal to research Red Pandas in their habitat, and since then has never turned back, subsequently becoming a member of the Panda Paladins and the Red Panda Trust, and devoting her life to the species by raising awareness in Sydney and throughout Australia.
Maya is a teenager from Sydney, Australia. Her interest in wildlife conservation and led her to join Taronga Zoo’s Youth At The Zoo (YATZ) volunteer program. Through YATZ Maya heard about a trip run by the Red Panda Network to Nepal to assist in the research of this beautiful species, met some amazing people, which led to her becoming involved in the Red Panda Trust! Maya's main hope is that the Trust spreads the message of conservation for Red Pandas and the rest of the natural environment. Maya would love for as many people of all ages to be concerned, and to be motivated do their bit for this species that is in great need of positive action.
Michaela is currently studying Sustainability and Development at La Trobe University, Melbourne. She has worked in Fundraising for over 2 years on behalf of leading environmental and humanitarian NGO's in an administration capacity. Her passions are conservation, politics and protecting this planet. In 2015, Michaela visited Nepal for 3 months and represented the Red Panda Trust for the first time at the Langtang Conservation and Tourism Festival. She believes education is the key to inspiring action, which starts which starts with research.
Alejandra 'Bici' is from Venezuela and currently resides in Chile. She is a Graphics Designer by profession and has been working in the field of publicity, design and marketing for the last 15 years. Alejandra is an avid animal care advocate and her travelling around South-East Asia led her to the Red Panda Trust. Alejandra continues to support the Red Panda Trust through her skills in Graphic Designing and has been involved in various other initiatives at Red Panda.
